Watercolor in Progress - a lot still to finish!
Watercolor in Progress - a lot still to finish!

So Many Trees, So Little Time!

So... if it is finished in time, (by tomorrow night!) and if I feel it is worthy, this watercolor painting will be an entry in the American Women Artists (AWA) Upcoming Juried Exhibition at the Booth Museum in Cartersville, GA.  The goal of AWA is to showcase the work of its members in at least twenty-five major museums in as many years, and this will be their fifth such show!  I joined the organization last year.

I had ample notice but didn't feel I had appropriate work to enter.  To qualify for entry, paintings have to have been completed in the past two years and must be for sale.  As you may know, I had been on hiatus from painting for a few years, only getting back to it late last year.  Recent works have been plein aire pieces or sold commissions.  But a friend and fellow AWA member contacted me a few days ago and lit a fire under me!  With this watercolor on my board in a lesser state of completion than it is now, I decided to try to finish it in time.  I have two oil paintings in progress that I will try to put the finishing touches on as well!

I don't think the adage better late than never applies, but pressure is a great motivator.  I hope the adage haste makes waste doesn't make me regret my decision.

I will keep you posted!
